Smoky Falls Coffee

Up here in Lummawbah, specifically Block- 4 at 3-Mile in Upper Shillong, we run Smoky Falls Coffee. The air is different here, and so is the pace of life. We’re not in a rush like people in the big cities. We take our time with the coffee because that’s the only way to do it right. The shop is a simple building that fits into the landscape. We get a lot of mist and rain, which is where the name comes from, I suppose. It’s just a group of us who enjoy working with beans. We don't use a lot of fancy machinery; we prefer doing things by hand when we can. The people who come by are usually locals or travelers heading through Upper Shillong. It’s a cozy spot, though it can get a bit chilly in the winter. We keep a stove going to stay warm. We don't have a big mission statement or anything. We just like the smell of roasting coffee and the sound of people talking. It’s a practical business. We sell what we make and hope people enjoy it. If you’re ever near 3-Mile, you can find us easily enough. We’re usually there from early morning until the sun goes down. It's a quiet life, but it suits us just fine. We just handle the roasting and the brewing, day after day, while the clouds roll over the hills.
