Khasi Indegenious Foundation

We are located in Jowai, over in the Jaintia Hills. Specifically, you can find us care of Manlang Passah at I Awmusiang. If you know the area, you know it is a beautiful part of Meghalaya. The air is fresh up here, even if the hills make travel a bit slow sometimes. Khasi Indegenious Foundation is a small outfit. We are mostly focused on things right here in our own backyard. We don't have some big corporate headquarters in a far-off city. Our work happens on the ground, in the markets, and in people's homes. Manlang’s place is where we keep our files and meet up to plan things. It’s not fancy. There is usually a pot of tea on the stove and someone coming or going. We like the way we work because it keeps us close to the people. We are all from around here, so we understand the culture and the way things are done. We don't use a lot of complicated words or business talk. That isn't our style. We just speak plainly about what needs to be done. The Jaintia Hills have a lot of history, and we try to respect that in everything we do. It’s a lot of hard work, but we enjoy it. It feels good to be doing something useful for the community we grew up in. There is no polish here, just honest work by people who live here.
