Delians Hearth

Shillong is a beautiful place, but it can be quite cold and damp, especially here on Laitumkhrah Main Road. We are located in the Banasree area, right near the Laitumkhrah Bazar. It is a very active part of town with a lot of students and local shoppers walking past every minute. Delians Hearth is our little spot where we try to keep things warm. The kitchen stays pretty hot, which is nice when the fog rolls in outside. We have a few wooden tables and some old chairs that have seen better days. The bazar nearby means there is always a lot of fresh stuff around, but the traffic on the main road can be a real headache sometimes. People park wherever they want and it gets very congested. We just ignore the noise and focus on what is happening inside the four walls. Our staff is mostly local kids from the neighborhood. We don't have any big corporate training or anything like that; we just learn as we go. Most days are spent cleaning up after the lunch crowd and getting ready for the people who stop by after the market closes. It’s a simple life in Shillong, and running this place keeps us on our toes. We just try to stay busy and keep the hearth going so it’s a bit comfortable for whoever walks in from the rain. We usually stay open until the main road traffic finally starts to thin out in the evening.
