We are located right in the village of Lumshnong, situated within the East Jaintia Hills. Our office is tucked in with Meghalaya Minerals & Mines Limited. It is a busy area because of all the mining and mineral work going on nearby. The roads around here can be quite something, especially when the monsoon season hits and everything gets muddy. We focus on the cement side of things. It is a dusty job, and most of the time we are just busy keeping the records straight and making sure the trucks are moving as they should. We don't have a big corporate office with air conditioning and fancy furniture. It is just a simple, practical room where we get the daily work done. Most of us who work here are local people who know the hills well. We have our tea together and talk about the day's schedule. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out. It is not a fast-paced city life here. We follow the rhythm of the site. If you are coming through the main part of the village, you will see us near the entrance of the mines. We try to keep things organized, but it can be a bit chaotic when several trucks arrive at once. We don't use big words or have long meetings. We just do the tasks that are right in front of us until the day is over.
