At Venkat Krishna Metal Crusher, we spend our days in Kalavacharla. If you’re driving down NH-14 Road near Rajanagaram, you’ll find us right near the Gandi Subbalakshmi Medical College, which is the easiest way to explain where we are to people. Our business is crushing metal, so as you can imagine, it gets pretty loud and dusty around here. We have the big machines out back that do the heavy lifting. It’s a rough environment but that’s the nature of the work. Most of us here are used to the noise and the heat. We start when the sun comes up and keep going until the light starts to fade. Being near the highway is great for the trucks coming in and out with materials. We don’t have much of a formal office, just a small shed where we keep the records and escape the sun for a bit. There’s always someone coming by to ask about scrap or metal prices. We don’t do any fancy advertising. People just know us because we’ve been here in Kalavacharla for a good while. The work is hard on the back and the hands, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to keep the crushers running and get the metal processed. It’s a very simple, old-school way of doing things. Everyone knows their job and we just get on with it every day. It’s loud, it’s dirty, but it is our work and it keeps us busy.
