Suresh Spices

Suresh Spices is tucked away at 24-9-63 on Draksharama Road in Jagannaickpur. If you walk past, you can usually smell whatever we are working on that day. It gets into your clothes and follows you home, which is just part of the job. The building is an old one, and the walls have seen better days, but it serves us well enough. We have bags of stuff piled up near the entrance because the storage room is always full. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the different sacks and containers. We spend a lot of our time weighing things out and sealing bags. My fingers are often stained from the different powders, and we all sneeze a lot when the air gets thick. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. The neighborhood around Draksharama Road is usually busy, so there’s always someone stopping by to ask a question or check a price. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just write things down in our ledgers and keep track of the stock the old-fashioned way. Sometimes the scales need adjusting or a bag rips, and we just deal with it. It’s just a small spice business where we put in the hours and hope for a good season.
