Godavari Stores

Our place is located out on Yeleswaram Road, at 2-896-745/12. It’s a bit of a trek for some, but for the folks living around here, we’re just a short walk away. The road gets dusty in the summer months. We spend a lot of time sweeping the front step because of that. Inside, it stays a little cooler, which is nice when the sun is really beating down. We’ve got the usual stuff people look for. Nothing fancy or imported, just the local things that everyone uses in their kitchens. I usually get here around seven to open up. The lock on the front gate sticks a little bit if you don't turn the key just right. We’ve been meaning to fix that for months but never got around to it. Life moves at its own pace here. We talk to the delivery drivers when they drop off the crates. Sometimes they stay for a minute to chat about the news or the cricket scores. We don't do any big advertising. People just know we are here. The shelves are wooden and they’ve bowed a bit over time from the weight of the jars. It’s just me and my brother mostly. We take turns sitting behind the counter. It’s a quiet life, really. We don’t have a big staff or anything like that. Just a small family spot on the side of the road that’s been here long enough to feel like part of the scenery.
