Down in Rongjeng, specifically in the Rongmil area, is where you will find Jokeme Farmer Producer Company Limited. Our address is at Bahil Momin’s place. We are tucked away in East Garo Hills, which is a beautiful part of Meghalaya but also a place where you have to work hard to get things to grow. We started this because a lot of us in the village were doing the same thing and it made sense to put our names together. It is not always easy getting goods in and out of 794110 because of the terrain, but we make it work. Most of us have been farming since we were kids, so we know the land around Rongjeng pretty well. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just plant, we tend, and we harvest. Sometimes the bugs are bad or the rain doesn't stop, and you just have to deal with it. Our little office is just a place to keep the paperwork straight. Mostly, we are out in the dirt or under the trees. It’s a quiet way to live, focusing on the agriculture and the people we know in the community. We just keep going one day at a time, hoping for a good season. The hills have been our home for generations and we just want to keep the farming tradition alive here.
