Yamuna Sports Complex

The place has been here in Surajmal Vihar for quite a long time now. It is right near Vivekanand Mahila College, so you usually see a lot of students and local folks from Anand Vihar walking around this part of Delhi. We mostly deal with the daily upkeep of the grounds and making sure the courts are ready for whoever shows up. It gets pretty busy in the mornings with people coming for their walks and kids trying to play football or cricket before the sun gets too hot. Dealing with the DDA side of things means there is always some paperwork or another, but mostly we are just here on the ground. The address is easy to find if you know the area well. It is not some fancy private club with golden doorknobs. It is a sports complex for the public. We have different areas for different sports, and some days things work better than others. The lights might flicker or the grass needs a mow, but that is just how it is. People come here because it is convenient and it has been a part of the neighborhood for years. You see the same faces every day, which is nice. Sometimes it feels like a small village inside the city because everyone knows each other. We just keep the gates open and try to make sure the water coolers are filled and the staff is around to help if someone gets lost looking for a specific court.
