Vidhyut Power Engineer (Govt. Contractor)

Working as Vidhyut Power Engineer over in Dilshad Garden means a lot of time spent out on job sites or dealing with the government side of things. Our place is at 545 Pocket D, which is where we keep all the tools and the mountain of paperwork for the contracts we take on. Being a govt contractor isn't always easy or straightforward. There’s a lot of waiting around for official approvals and making sure every single wire is exactly where it should be according to the regulations. We’ve got a crew that knows their way around a fuse box and heavy-duty cabling. Most mornings we meet up at the office, have some quick tea, and load up the bags before heading out in the van. Delhi heat can be brutal when you’re working with electrical gear, but we just get on with it because the work needs doing. We don’t have a fancy showroom for people to visit because our work mostly happens at the locations we’re sent to. The office is mostly just for filing things and answering the phone when it rings. We’ve been doing this for a while, so we know the local area and the inspectors pretty well by now. It’s practical work. No one here is trying to be a big shot. We just want to make sure the power is running and the job is finished so we can move to the next task. It’s a lot of physical labor.
