Vedya Universal Foundation

Vedya Universal Foundation is situated on the third floor in Shankar Vihar 3, over in East Delhi. It’s a bit of a climb since there isn't an elevator in this building, but it keeps us active. The office is basically just a few rooms that we’ve set up with whatever furniture we could find. It’s not a fancy setup at all. We have some old wooden tables and chairs that have seen better days. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it's not a priority for us right now. We focus more on the work we are doing than on how the office looks. Being in East Delhi, we are surrounded by a lot of other small businesses and homes. It’s a very lively atmosphere. We don’t have a big team; it’s just a handful of us who handle everything from the paperwork to the actual community work. We aren't trying to impress anyone with corporate talk. We just speak plainly and do what needs to be done. Most days are pretty routine, filled with phone calls and emails. We usually have lunch together at the big table in the back. It’s a simple life and a simple way to run a foundation. The view from the third floor gives us a good look at the street below, which is always full of activity. We’ve been here for a while and it suits our needs just fine.
