The Tata Motors Ltd. spot here is at N-96 in Narayan Nagar. It is right in the Lalita Park area of Laxmi Nagar. If you know Delhi, you know how packed Laxmi Nagar can get during the rush hour. Our building is right there among the other shops and small businesses. We have a front door that sticks a bit when it rains, so you have to give it a good shove. Inside, it is just a bunch of us working at our stations. We have some metal cabinets for the records and a water cooler that stays busy all day. The lighting is a bit bright, the kind of fluorescent tubes that hum a little. We do not have any fancy decorations on the walls, just some calendars and a clock that is five minutes fast. There is usually a bit of a breeze if we leave the back door open, which helps when the power goes out and the fans stop. We see a lot of the same faces every day, people walking by on their way to the metro station. It is a very lived-in space. Nothing is brand new, but everything works well enough for what we need. We just focus on getting through the paperwork and answering the messages that come in. It is a busy life here in Narayan Nagar and we are just part of the local scenery now after all these years.
