St Stephens Hospital

This part of St Stephens Hospital focuses on eyes. Being in Delhi, we deal with a lot of people who have trouble seeing because of age or just general eye health issues. The department stays busy from the moment we open the doors. It’s a specialized area so we see a lot of the same types of problems every day. Cataracts are a big thing here. The nurses are usually running around trying to organize the files while the doctors move from room to room. It gets a bit chaotic on Mondays especially. We have some older equipment and some newer stuff too. It’s not a shiny corporate office, just a place where you get your eyes checked. The waiting room chairs are a bit worn out from all the people sitting there day after day. Sometimes the air conditioning doesn't work as well as it should when it's really hot outside. We spend a lot of time explaining how to use eye drops to people who are a bit confused. It’s simple work in some ways but it’s important. You get to know some of the regulars who come back for follow-ups. We aren't trying to be anything other than a hospital department. We just want to make sure people can see better when they leave than when they walked in. The location in Delhi makes it accessible for most folks using the metro or buses.
