If you ever find yourself in Gandhi Nagar, you probably know how many textile shops are crammed into every corner. Our place, Ratna Textile Llp, is over in Subhash Mohalla on Nehru Gali. The address is Ix/6508. It’s one of those narrow streets where everyone knows everyone else. We’ve been doing this for a bit now, mostly focusing on the day-to-day grind of the textile trade. Gandhi Nagar is always loud and there’s always someone moving heavy bundles of clothes around on their shoulders or on carts. Our shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but we keep it functional. We spend a lot of time sorting through different materials and making sure the counts are right before they go out. It gets pretty dusty with all the fabric around, so we’re always cleaning a bit and rearranging things. East Delhi is a busy place to be, and being in 110031 means we are right in the heart of the wholesale action. We don't really have a marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us handling the orders as they come in. Sometimes the lane gets so crowded that even a small bike can’t pass, which makes getting deliveries out a bit of a challenge. We just take it as it comes. It's a simple operation, run by people who have been in the trade for years. We just try to keep things moving along and get home at a decent hour.
