Prem Painter

I am Prem, and I run Prem Painter out of 1559 Ajmeri Gate. If you know this part of the city, you know it is always packed with people and constant traffic. I have been working as a painter since I was a young man, learning how to do it from my father. Now I have a few helpers who go out on jobs with me. We do not have a big shop, just our equipment and ladders kept near the gate. Most of our work is right here in the old parts of the city. The buildings here have a lot of character but they also have many problems like old plaster and deep cracks. We spend a lot of time scraping and filling before we even think about the color. It is hard work, especially when the sun is beating down on us while we are up on a scaffold. We do both inside and outside work. Sometimes it is a small room that just needs a quick coat, and other times it is a whole big building. We do not talk much while we are working, we just get on with it and finish the task. People around Ajmeri Gate know me by name. I do not bother with business cards or anything like that. If someone needs a job done, they just come find me. We use whatever paint the customer wants, but I always give my honest opinion on what will hold up against the city grime. It’s just a simple life of painting walls and moving to the next job when the first one is dry.
