Nirmaya Welfare Foundation

Nirmaya Welfare Foundation is located right on the ground floor at 127 Baldev Park. Being on the ground floor is handy because people don't have to climb any stairs to reach us. We’ve been in this part of East Delhi for some time now. The neighborhood is pretty crowded, but that’s just how it is around here. We handle different kinds of welfare activities. It’s mostly just a few of us sitting around desks, talking to folks who come in through the door. Some days it’s quiet, and other days it feels like everyone needs something at the same time. We don't have any fancy decorations or expensive furniture. It’s just a practical space where we can sit down and talk. We drink a lot of tea while we work through the tasks for the day. Sometimes the traffic outside is loud, but you get used to it after a while. We started this because we saw a need in the community and figured we could do something about it. It isn't a huge operation, just a local foundation trying to stay busy and useful. We know the neighbors pretty well by now. Everyone just calls us by our names rather than using formal titles. We don’t really do big meetings; we just talk and decide what needs doing next. It’s a simple way of working, but it seems to suit us just fine. We keep the doors open most of the day for a breeze.
