Our place, Khakha Textiles Mfr Private Limited, is tucked away in the Triveni Complex over in Laxmi Nagar. We are on the third floor, which is nice because it gets us a bit away from the noise of the street below. If you know where Hira Sweets is in Jawahar Park, then you’re basically there. Laxmi Nagar is always crowded, and finding a parking spot is a daily struggle for all of us. Inside the office, it’s mostly just piles of samples and stacks of registers. We manufacture textiles, so our focus is always on the production side of things. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. We have been working from this spot for a while, and the people in the building are like family now. We share snacks and complain about the power cuts together. Every day is different, depending on what the clients need and how the machines are holding up. We try to keep things simple and avoid all that complicated business talk you hear elsewhere. We just want to make sure the fabric is decent and the counts are right. It’s a bit cramped sometimes when a big shipment comes in, but we manage just fine. That’s just how it goes when you’re running a small textile business in East Delhi. There's always plenty of work to keep us on our toes.
