We are over at A-1/14 in Krishna Nagar. It is a quiet enough spot compared to the main markets nearby. The building is an older one and we have been here for quite some time. Inside, you will see a lot of paper. There are stacks of books, journals, and manuscripts almost everywhere you look. It is just how a publication office ends up looking after a few years. We have some shelves that are bowing under the weight of all the printed material. The desks are covered in proofs and red pens. We don't have a lot of fancy technology, just the basic computers and a printer that occasionally jams. The windows look out onto the street and we can see the neighbors going about their day. It is a small team here, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, from answering the phone to packing boxes for shipping. There is a small pantry where we make tea several times a day. The floor is tile and it stays cool in the summer, which is nice. We don't get many walk-in visitors, mostly just delivery guys or the occasional author stopping by to drop off a draft. It is a steady pace of work. We keep the rhythm going every day. It feels like a lived-in space because it is. We are comfortable here and it serves its purpose for our publishing work without needing to be flashy.
