Our office is on the third floor of a building in B-39, Pandav Nagar. It’s a bit of a climb, but it keeps us moving. East Delhi is always crowded, and our street is no different. You can hear the traffic and the street vendors from our desks. We focus on building projects, mostly around the city. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with sites and government offices. We don’t have a big polished lobby. Our space is filled with files and a few chairs for visitors. We’ve been working out of Pandav Nagar because it’s central for us. Most of the people working here live nearby. We know where to get the best lunch and which roads to avoid during rush hour. The work itself is pretty straightforward. We get a project, we figure out the materials, and we get the laborers started. There’s always something going wrong, like a truck being late or a rainstorm hitting at the wrong time. We just deal with it as it comes. It’s a practical way to live. We don’t put on airs or pretend to be bigger than we are. We are just a group of people who know how to put a building together. If you come by, mind the stairs, they’re a bit steep. We’ll probably be busy, but we always have time for a quick chat about a project.
