G K Fish Service

We are set up at 868 Qutab Road in Sadar Bazar. If you’ve ever been to Sadar Bazar, you know it’s one of the busiest places you can find. Our fish service is right in the thick of it. We get the fresh catch in very early, often while it's still dark out. The smell of the market is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We don’t have much room, just enough for the crates and the ice. Keeping things cold is our biggest daily challenge, especially when the Delhi heat kicks in. We spend a lot of time shoveling ice and moving fish around. It’s a wet and messy job, but someone has to do it. The customers are mostly locals or people who run small stalls themselves. We don’t have a fancy sign or any seating. It’s a place where you come to get your fish and then you move on. We try to be fair with everyone who walks in. The Qutab Road traffic is always right there at the door, so it’s never quiet. We close up once the day’s supply is gone. Some days that’s early, other days we’re here late waiting for the last few pieces to go. It’s a simple life, focused on the seasons and what the water provides. We just keep our heads down and do the work. There isn't much more to tell about our little spot on Qutab Road. We just keep at it every day.
