Our small spot is at 2610, Street 7, in Raghubar Pura, No. 2, over in Gandhi Nagar. It’s a bit of a maze back here, so people often get lost the first time they try to visit. We are right in the middle of a residential area that’s turned into a workspace. We make caps and hats, mostly. There are sewing machines running most of the day, and the sound becomes like background music after a while. We have piles of fabric everywhere—different colors and textures. It’s a bit messy, with thread and scraps on the floor, but we try to clear it out every evening. We aren't a big corporation. It’s just a local operation with a few people who know how to stitch properly. We work out of a small room that serves as the workshop and the storage space. There’s not much room to move around when we have a big order going. Gandhi Nagar is a busy place for textiles, so we have everything we need close by. We don't do any big marketing. Most of our work comes from people we've known for years. We just focus on making sure the seams are straight and the hats fit right. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes we stay late when there's a deadline, but we try to get home for dinner. The kettle is usually on if someone wants a cup of tea.
