Avon Halal Meet Shop

This shop has been a part of Solanki Market in Madhu Vihar for a long time. It’s a small corner spot, nothing very large or modern. We open up the shutters very early in the morning because that’s when the local people come by to get meat for their daily meals. The space inside is quite tight, so on busy days like Sundays, it can get very crowded with people waiting. We’ve got our wooden cutting blocks and the metal counters where we do all the work. It’s noisy because of the market sounds and the traffic from the street outside. We just stay focused on getting the meat cut the way people want it. My brother and I run the place with help from two other guys. We don’t have a website or any kind of online presence. Most people just know us from living in the area. The floor needs constant cleaning, so we’re always washing it down. It’s hard physical work, and your back can really hurt by the end of the shift. Sometimes the electricity goes out, which is a big problem for the freezers, so we have to use a small generator to keep things cold. We aren’t a supermarket or a fancy store. We’re just a local butcher shop. We know our customers by name and they know us. We do the work, close up, and go home every day. It’s just how things have always been here in Solanki Market and we’re used to the long hours.
