Duncan Hospital

This part of East Champaran is always moving because we are right on the Nepal border. Duncan Hospital is located near the Nepal Custom Gate, so we get a lot of people passing through from different places. The location is very specific, near the gate where all the paperwork happens for the border crossing. It can be a bit chaotic outside with all the rickshaws and the people carrying goods back and forth. Inside, we try to keep things as calm as we can, but it’s a busy life. We have been here for years and the building has seen better days, honestly. We fix things as they break and just keep going. The dust from the border road gets everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. Our staff lives nearby, so we are all part of this community. We see the same faces every day at the tea stall near the gate. It is a practical place for a hospital because everyone knows where the custom gate is. We don’t have a big corporate office or anything. It’s just us in these rooms, working through the day and night. The weather gets really hot in the summer, which makes the work harder, but we just get on with it. Life at the border is never boring, and we are just a small part of that daily routine here in East Champaran.
