Carewell Clinic

Carewell Clinic is a small place here in Laxmipur. It’s not hard to find if you know the main road, though the sign is a bit faded from the sun. We open up early because people in this area tend to start their day before the heat really sets in. Inside, there are just a few chairs for people to sit while they wait. The walls were painted a light green a few years back, and we haven't got around to changing it since. We have a small desk where we take down names and a back room where the checkups happen. It’s usually pretty quiet unless the kids are in for their shots. We know most of the people who come in by their first names because they’ve lived in Laxmipur their whole lives. The floor is tile, which makes it easy to mop at the end of the day. We keep a big water jar in the corner for anyone who’s thirsty. Sometimes we run out of medicine and have to wait for the truck to bring more from the city. It’s a simple setup, nothing like those big hospitals with the fancy machines. We have a stethoscope, a thermometer, and a scale that’s a bit old but still works fine. Most of our work is just listening to people and helping with common coughs or aches. It’s a good community and we’re happy to be a part of it here every day.
