United Engineering Co. sits over at Nivedita Place in Benachity. It’s a good corner of Burdwan to be in. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a while now. The building isn't anything special to look at, but it’s sturdy and keeps the rain off the equipment. We spend most of our time dealing with technical drawings and getting the fabrication right. It’s a lot of back and forth between the desk and the shop floor. We have a few guys who have been with us since the beginning. We don't really have a boss who sits in a closed office. We all just pitch in where it is needed. Sometimes that means cleaning up the oil spills and sometimes it means talking to a client about a complex design. We try to keep our overhead low so we don't have to charge people crazy prices. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we started, with more shops opening up nearby. It’s nice to see the growth. We don't have a website or anything like that because we are usually too busy working to bother with the internet. If you want to find us, you just come down to Nivedita Place. We are usually there from early morning until the sun goes down. It’s just what we do. No fluff, just engineering and a bit of honest labor. We like it that way and the customers seem to like it too. It’s steady and dependable.
