Sattkar Boitique

We are located on the first floor of the Kalpataru building, part of the Bengal Sristi Complex in the City Centre area. Being up on the first floor is okay, though carrying the heavy rolls of fabric up the stairs can be a bit of a pain sometimes. The boutique isn't huge, but we’ve managed to fit a couple of sewing machines and a cutting table in the back. It’s B-213, in case you’re looking for the exact door. Most of our day is spent measuring fabric or talking to people about how they want their clothes to fit. It’s quiet work mostly, except for the sound of the needles and the occasional chatter from the shops next door. Durgapur is getting busier, and you can see more people walking around the complex every month. We usually have some thread clippings on our clothes by the time we go home. The lighting is bright because we need to see the fine details, which can be tiring for the eyes after eight hours. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle a pair of scissors properly. Sometimes we run out of a certain color of silk and have to wait for the next delivery. It’s just a normal day-to-day routine of making things and hoping they turn out right. We just take it one garment at a time.
