Jai Balaji Sponge Iron

We have been here in Desh Bandhu Nagar for quite a while now. It’s right near the Ram Gopal Variety Stores, which everyone around Durgapur-11 knows pretty well. Making sponge iron is tough work, and the heat gets to you, especially in the summer months when the sun is beating down on Burdwan. We just get on with things. Most of the guys working here are locals from around the district. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. It is just a place where things get done every day. Sometimes the roads around here get a bit muddy when it rains, making deliveries a bit of a headache, but we manage somehow. It is a noisy spot, but that is just how an industrial area is. We see the same faces every morning and the same trucks coming in and out. There isn't much to say except that we are part of the landscape here now. People know where to find us if they need something. We try to keep the machines running and the yard organized as much as we can. It’s a busy life. My family has seen this place grow over the years, and even though the air is thick with the smell of metal and smoke, it feels like home to us. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing, day after day.
