Evergreen Construction

Evergreen Construction runs out of Shanu Nivas, which is a house in the Mundukottackal area of Pathanamthitta. It’s a quiet part of Kerala, surrounded by a lot of greenery and trees. The office is really just part of the house, so it feels very personal. We’ve got Udaya Bhanu and the rest of the family involved in the daily bits of the business. Most of our work is local, building things for the people in the district. You won’t find any big corporate banners here. We just have some tools in the shed and a desk where we do the planning and the billing. The rain is a big factor in our work. When the monsoon hits, everything stops, and we spend our time in the office drinking tea and looking at the site photos. We use simple English to talk to people because they are our neighbors. We don't try to sound like a big city firm. We just know how to lay bricks and mix cement. The phone rings quite a bit with people asking about their walls or their roofs. It’s a slow and steady life here in Vettipuram. We take pride in just doing the job right and making sure the buildings can handle the Kerala weather. It’s a small, family-style operation where the work and life are all mixed together under one roof, just how we like it.
