We’ve been sitting here in Sector 2A for a good while now. Durgapur gets really hot in the summer, especially around Bidhannagar, but our office on S.S.B. Sarani is where everything happens for us. People know us as Emas Expressway, though most just call us by our first names when they drop by. It’s not a fancy place with glass walls or anything like that. We have some old desks, a bunch of maps on the wall, and the tea guy comes around twice a day. Usually, the mornings are quite busy with everyone checking their schedules. You might find some of the staff complaining about the traffic on the way in, but that's just part of life in Burdwan. We deal with roads and big projects, so our boots are often a bit muddy. There isn’t much mystery to what we do here. We just show up, look at the plans, and get the trucks moving where they need to go. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, and we just sit outside and talk until it comes back. It is a local operation, and we like it that way. Most of us grew up around here or moved to Bengal years ago. We know the shortcuts and the shops nearby. It’s a job, but it’s also our community. We aren't trying to change the world; we're just keeping the wheels turning and making sure the work is done before the sun sets over the district.
