A. B. Hardware

If you walk down Gurudwara Road in Benachity, you’ll find our shop, A. B. Hardware. It’s a typical hardware store where we keep a bit of everything crammed onto the shelves. From boxes of nails to different kinds of paint and tools, it can look a bit cluttered if you’re not used to it. We know where everything is, though, even the small stuff tucked away in the back corners. The Post Office is nearby, so the street stays pretty active with people running errands. We’ve been here in the Bardhaman district for quite some time now. Most of our day is spent helping people find a specific screw or explaining which pipe fitting they might need for a leak at home. We don’t have a fancy website or a digital catalog. If you want something, you usually just come in and ask us directly. The floor is made of old concrete and has seen a lot of foot traffic over the years. We often have tea with the other shopkeepers when there's a lull in the afternoon. It’s a simple way to run a business. We don't use any complicated systems, just a notebook and a pen for the most part. It’s about being there for the local builders and homeowners who just want to get their repairs done. We like the familiar faces and the steady rhythm of the neighborhood. It’s nothing special, just a shop that provides what people need to fix their houses and keep things working.
