Pintu General Store

If you are walking near the Railway Chowk in the village of Dongargarh, you will probably see our shop at Plot No. 3. It is a quiet spot most of the time unless a train has just pulled into the station nearby. This store is not very large, but we try to keep a bit of everything. We sell things like plastic buckets, notebooks, and basic groceries. People around the village just know us as Pintu’s place. It is a very simple setup. We have some glass jars sitting right on the front shelf filled with those colorful sweets kids like. There is a lot of stuff tucked into the corners that you might not see at first. Sometimes the rain makes the floor a bit muddy because people walk in straight from the dirt road outside. We do not mind it much and just sweep it up later in the evening. There is no fancy lighting here. We just use those long tube lights that flicker once in a while. My brother helps me out on the weekends when it gets a bit more crowded than usual. Villagers come here for their monthly supply of salt and cooking oil. We also keep a stock of batteries and torches because the power goes out in the village quite often. It is a basic life here. I started this shop because people had to walk too far for small things.
