Our shop is out on Dhamda Road in the Industrial Estate. Mittal Furniture has been sitting here for quite some time now. It’s a big dusty space filled with wood planks, sawdust, and half-finished chairs. You can hear the saws running most of the morning. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights and carpets. It’s just the workshop where we actually make the things. People come out here to see what we are building or to pick up an order. The air is always full of sawdust, so we keep the big side doors open to let the breeze in. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially under the tin roof when the sun is out. We use a lot of local timber for the pieces we build. My hands are usually rough and stained from the sanding and the oils. We don't really do catalogs or anything fancy like that. If someone wants a table, they come and talk to us about the size and the wood they like. It’s a practical way of doing things. The Industrial Estate is a bit out of the way, but folks find us easily enough. We have some old benches out front where we sit for lunch and tea. It’s a lot of hard work and lifting heavy furniture onto the back of trucks. We just keep our heads down and work.
