Chhattisgarh Distilleries Ltd. is located right in Vill: Khapri. If you’re heading toward PO Kumhari, you can’t really miss the site. It’s a large operation and there’s always something going on. We have these big tanks and a lot of steam. In the summer, it gets incredibly hot inside, but we’re used to it by now. The work involves a lot of watching levels and making sure the boilers are doing what they should. We handle a lot of grain and liquids every single day. It’s a heavy industry kind of place, nothing like those clean offices you see in the city. Our boots usually have some dust on them and there’s always a specific smell in the air from the distilling process. Most of us have worked here for years. We’ve seen the village change a bit, but the distillery stays pretty much the same. We have a lot of trucks coming in and out, picking up deliveries. Sometimes the logistics get a bit messy, especially when the rain hits and the roads get muddy. We just deal with it. It’s a straightforward business. We make the product, bottle it up, and send it out. No one here is trying to be fancy. We just want to make sure the day goes by without any major breakdowns. It’s hard work, but it’s our work.
