Sarvodaya Service Centre

Sarvodaya Service Centre is located right on Dahod Road in the Crockery Market area. It is a place where there is always something being taken apart or put back together. The shelves are packed with spare parts and old tools that we’ve gathered over the years. We usually have grease on our hands and maybe a few smudges on our faces by the time noon rolls around. The floor is concrete and has some stains that won't ever come out, but that’s just part of being a service center. We get all kinds of things brought in that need fixing, and we just take them one by one. It can get pretty loud with the sound of the market right outside and the clinking of our metal tools inside. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room with magazines. People usually just stand around and chat with us while we look at whatever they brought in. Sometimes a repair takes longer than we thought, and we have to tell people to come back the next day. We try to be honest about what we can actually fix. The air smells like oil and metal, which is something we’ve just gotten used to. It isn't a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and we like the feeling of finally getting a stubborn machine to work again before we close up for the night.
