Designer'S Silk Hut

At Designer'S Silk Hut, we spend our time tucked away in Laluka Gaon on Firoj Ali Path. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but people find us. Working with silk is a delicate thing, and you have to have a lot of patience for it. The colors of the threads are what I like most, especially when they catch the light coming through the open door. We are close to the post office at Mohanaghat, which is handy because we have to send things out quite often. The district is quiet, but our little hut is always full of the sound of fabric moving and people talking. Sometimes the floors are covered in bits of thread that we have to sweep out at the end of the day. It’s not a fancy showroom like you’d find in a big city mall. It’s just a place where we sit and work with our hands. The village life is slow, and we often stop what we're doing to have tea with someone who has stopped by to look at the new patterns. We don't use any big machines, just the old ways of doing things that we’ve known for years. My fingers are usually stained with dye, but that’s just how it goes when you’re working with these materials every day. It’s a small life, but there's always something beautiful to look at.
