Bhavani Engineering Works

Bhavani Engineering Works has been based out here in Devanahalli for quite a while. It’s a bit of a trek from the main city, but this is where we have our space and all our heavy equipment. The shop floor is usually covered in metal shavings and there is a permanent smell of oil and burnt steel in the air. We do a lot of grinding and welding, so the noise is pretty constant from morning until we shut the gates. It is not the kind of place you come to if you want to keep your clothes clean. Most of the time, our hands are stained with grease that won't quite wash off. We handle various engineering tasks, mostly stuff that people from around the Devanahalli area bring in when they need something fixed or fabricated. The workshop is big enough for our machines but it always feels crowded with whatever project we are currently tackling. Sometimes we’re working on parts for tractors, and other times it’s just simple iron gates or brackets. The weather out here can be a bit dry and dusty, which doesn't help with keeping the machines tidy, but they work fine. We don't spend much time on paperwork or sitting behind a desk. Most of our hours are spent standing on the concrete floor, making sure the measurements are right and the welds are strong enough for the job. That's just a typical day for us.
