Modern English Medium Secondary School

You will find Modern English Medium Secondary School in Ashmuji, which is under the Kulgam post office area. We are located very close to the Jamia Masjid, so that is how most people find their way to us. It is a secondary school, so we deal with the older kids who are getting ready for their exams. The building is a simple structure that fits in with the rest of the village. We have a few rows of classrooms and a small area where the kids gather for assembly in the morning. Since we use English as the medium here, there is a lot of reading and writing going on in the rooms. The teachers are mostly from the nearby towns and they come in every day regardless of the weather. It can get quite cold here in the winter, so we all wrap up well. We don't have any of those big sports fields or computer labs you see on TV, but we have what we need to get through the syllabus. The atmosphere is generally quiet, except when it is time for lunch and everyone heads outside. People around here know us as a place where their children can come and spend their day studying. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. It’s a straightforward school for the local community.
