This J And K Govt office has a bit of an unusual spot. We are located C/O Shimla Hair Cutter, which is right near the bus stop in Kishtwar. It is a very lively area because people are always coming and going from the buses. You can hear the conductors shouting and the engines idling all day long. Being near the hair cutter means there is always a bit of talk and laughter coming from next door. Our pincode is 182204. We are right in the middle of everything in this part of Jammu and Kashmir. The mountains are all around us, and the air is crisp, though it gets dusty near the road. The office is small and filled with papers and registers. People stop in while they are waiting for their transport or after they get a haircut. It is a very informal atmosphere compared to the big city offices. We have a few wooden desks and some old chairs for visitors. Some days are slow, especially when the weather is bad and the buses aren't running as much. Other days, it feels like the whole of Kishtwar is passing by our front door. We just try to keep up with the work and help whoever walks in. It is a simple life here near the bus stop, just doing what needs to be done for the government. There are no fancy computers here, just hard work and patience.
