Doda Marmat Jk Farmer Producer Company Limited is located in the Akramabad area, near the Jama Masjid. Our office is care of Kaif Bashir, at house number 1909. We are based in a beautiful but rugged part of the country, where the hills of Doda and Marmat define how we live and farm. Being near the Jama Masjid makes it easy for our members to find us when they come into town. We are a group of farmers who decided that working together was the only way to really make a go of it in this terrain. The office in Akramabad is just a small room where we keep our books and hold our meetings. We don't have a big corporate structure; it's mostly just Kaif and a few others handling the daily tasks while the rest of us are out on the slopes. Farming here isn't like farming on flat land; it takes a lot of manual labor and local knowledge. We use the company to organize our harvests and try to get better deals on things like seeds and tools. It’s a very local operation, rooted in the community of Marmat and the surrounding villages. We started this because we wanted to have a bit more control over our own lives and our own crops. It’s not always easy, and sometimes the roads are difficult, but we manage to keep things going through hard work and by sticking together as a group.
