Khodiyar Ice Factory

Operating the Khodiyar Ice Factory in Village Bucharwada is a lot of work, but we’ve been doing it for a while now. We are located right near the Bus Stand, which is the busiest part of this area in Tehsil Diu. You can hear the buses pulling in and out all day long, and the drivers often pop their heads in to see if we have fresh blocks ready. We don't just sell small cones; we make big slabs of ice for the fishermen and the local shops that need to keep their stuff cold. The machines are loud and they take up most of the space in the building. It gets pretty wet on the floor, so we always wear heavy boots when we are working. Being so close to the Post Office Bucharwada means we are easy to find if anyone is looking for us. Diu is a beautiful place, but the heat can be tough, so our ice is always in demand. We don't have a fancy office or a receptionist. If you want us, you just walk into the main bay and shout over the noise of the motors. It’s a gritty, hands-on job, and we usually go home covered in frost and water. We’ve been part of this village for years, and we plan on staying right here by the bus stop for a long time.
