The shop sits right near Railwaystation Char Rasta, which is always a hive of activity. We have been working out of Visa Gali No Scw for quite some time now, and most people around here know where to find us. It’s right near that HP petrol pump, so it is a good landmark for people coming in from out of town. The work is mostly about moving heavy steel and keeping track of the stock we have piled up. We spend our mornings checking the arrivals and making sure the loaders know which bundle goes where. It’s physical work and your clothes get dirty pretty fast, but we don’t mind that. The office part of it is just a small space with some registers and a fan that never seems to go fast enough in the summer. We talk to contractors and local builders who need specific sizes of rods or sheets. Sometimes the traffic in the gali gets so backed up with rickshaws and carts that we have to wait a while to get our deliveries out. We just try to keep things moving as best as we can. It isn’t a corporate setup with meetings and fancy titles, just a group of us handling the daily grind of the steel trade. We know the regulars by name and they know they can just walk in and ask what’s in stock. That’s how we like to run things. Every day is different, and we just handle it.
