Prantik Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our company is located in Dinhata, which is up in the northern part of the state. We are at Plot No. 150, at Gita Sarkar’s place in Khitaber Kuthy, near Chowdharihat. It’s a very quiet and rural area. We are a group of farmers who formed this producer company to help each other out. Dinhata is a place where agriculture is the main thing everyone does. Our office is just a plain room where we meet to talk about seeds, the weather, and how to sell our crops. We don't have any fancy marketing or a big corporate structure. Most of us are more at home in the fields than sitting at a desk. We spend a lot of time discussing the rains and the market prices. It’s a community effort. People come by on their bicycles to share news or ask for advice. Gita Sarkar’s place is a local landmark for us. We don't have any big signs or advertisements. We just rely on word of mouth and the relationships we have with the other farmers. The life here is slow but steady. We aren't looking to change everything overnight. We just want to make sure that the people who work the land get a fair deal. It’s a basic, practical way of living and working together in Cooch Behar.
