Thalaiyuthu Village is where we are based. It’s not a big city. People here know each other. Our mill, Spintop Mills LLP, is at No: 803/4. When the machines are running, you can hear them from the road. It’s a rhythmic sound that we’ve all gotten used to over the years. We spend a lot of time checking the threads and making sure the spindles are doing what they should. It’s dusty work, and your clothes usually end up covered in fine fibers by the time lunch rolls around. We eat our tiffin together in the shade when the sun gets too high. There’s no air conditioning here, just big windows and a few heavy-duty fans. We don't spend money on fancy signs or glossy brochures because that’s not how we do things in the village. Most of the folks working here live just a short walk away. We know their families and they know ours. If a machine breaks down, we roll up our sleeves and try to fix it ourselves before calling in a mechanic from town. It’s a simple life, but it’s busy. We produce what we can and try to keep the operations steady. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, chatting until the lights come back on. That’s just part of running a mill in a place like this. We don't have any big speeches. We just keep the wheels turning and do our jobs.
