Mahatma Hospital

This hospital is located near the main bus stand in Dindigul, right across from Balaji Bhavan. If you’ve ever been to this part of town, you know it’s never silent. There is a constant sound of buses pulling in and out, and the smell of sambar and coffee from across the street usually wafts in through the open windows in the morning. It’s a simple building. We don’t have air conditioning in every single corner, so we rely a lot on the ceiling fans and the breeze when it actually blows. The waiting area has these metal chairs that are a bit cold in the morning but they’re easy to clean. Most of the people who come here are just passing through or live in the nearby villages, so we see a lot of different folks every day. We don’t have a big fancy sign or a polished lobby with marble. It’s just us, some sturdy tables, and a lot of medicine bottles. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which is just standard for Dindigul. We like being near the bus stand because it’s easy for people to find us, even if the noise is a bit much sometimes. It’s a practical, busy place where we just focus on getting through the day’s work without any fuss.
