You’ll find us on the first floor of the Annapoorna Complex. The address is 637-A, right on the Palani Main Road in Oddanchatram. It’s a busy road with a lot of noise and shops around us. We’ve been running this chit fund business for some time now. People come up the stairs to see us when they want to join a group or pay their monthly amount. We have a few tables set up and a couple of older computers that we use for the accounts. It’s a functional space that gets the job done. We don’t spend money on fancy decorations because that’s not what we’re about. We just want to keep the records straight and the members happy. The morning starts with us checking the previous day's entries and making sure the cash matches the books. Since we’re on the main road, it gets quite dusty every single day, so we’re always wiping down the desks and the chairs. Most of our members are local shopkeepers or farmers from the Dindigul area. They stop by on their way to the market or after they finish their chores. We talk about the weather or the price of crops while we do the paperwork. It’s a very normal, everyday kind of place. We don’t make big promises we can't keep. We just manage the chits and make sure the payouts happen. It is what we do for a living.
