If you’re heading out toward South Dinajpur, you might find yourself in Harirampur. That’s where we are, specifically over in Bidisoil, Krishnabati Hemtabad. We operate out of Ranjit Sarkar’s place. It’s a long way from the big cities, and that suits us just fine. Uttaran Micro Service Foundation is really a product of this rural landscape. Life here moves a bit slower than in Kolkata, but the problems are just as real. We deal with micro-services, which basically means we’re trying to help folks with the small things that make a big difference in their daily lives. Being in a village setting, you can't really hide behind a desk. Everyone knows everyone. If we say we’re going to do something, we have to show up and do it, or word gets around fast. The air is a bit cleaner out here, but the roads can be a challenge during the monsoon. We spend a lot of time traveling between the small settlements in West Bengal, just talking to people about their needs. It isn’t fancy work. There are no suits or big boardrooms here. It’s mostly just sitting on a porch or in a small room, looking at numbers and figuring out how to get things moving for the locals. It’s quiet, it’s practical, and it’s what we know. We’re just glad to be out here in the 733128 area doing our bit. It's a simple life but it's meaningful for us and the people we see daily.
