If you know where the Rail Gate is in Dimapur, then you know exactly where we are. It’s a very noisy spot because of the trains passing by and the people constantly moving toward the station. Our office is right there in the middle of it all in the 797112 area. We spend a lot of time listening to the whistles and the sound of the gates closing. It’s a good place for a travel business because people are always thinking about leaving or coming home. Inside, it’s just a normal room with some old maps on the wall and a desk that’s seen better days. We don’t use any fancy software, just the standard stuff to get the jobs done. Most of the people who drop by are in a rush to catch a train or are just checking on their tickets for later. We keep a pot of water for anyone who’s thirsty and a couple of plastic stools for waiting. It’s a very hands-on job, dealing with paper tickets and cash most of the time. The humidity in Dimapur can be tough on the equipment, so we have a small fan that runs all day long to keep us cool. We’ve been at this Rail Gate location for a while now and we know the rhythms of the train schedule by heart. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do, and we just keep at it day after day.
