Patkai Christian College

Living and working out here in Chumukedima, you get used to the slower pace of life. Patkai Christian College has been part of the landscape for a long time now. We are located over at Seithekemabpo, and if you know the area, you know it’s a bit of a walk from the main road. The campus has a lot of trees which is nice when the sun is out too much in the afternoons. Most of the people working here have been around for years. We aren't trying to be the biggest place in Nagaland, we just want to make sure the students who come here actually learn something useful for their futures. There’s a lot of history in these old buildings. Sometimes the plumbing acts up or we have to fix a roof after a heavy rain, but that’s just how it goes with older places. We have students coming from all over Dimapur and even further away. They stay in the hostels and you can hear them playing music or talking late into the night. It’s a lively place, even if it feels quiet from the outside. We handle everything ourselves, from the admissions paperwork to making sure the grass is mowed. It’s not always easy keeping everything running smoothly, especially when things break unexpectedly, but we manage. We just take it one semester at a time and try to be helpful to whoever walks through the front gates.
