Military Hospital

Up here in Dinjan, the hospital is surrounded by a lot of greenery, which is nice but it also means we deal with a lot of dampness when the rains come. It’s not a massive facility, but it serves the local military community well enough. The building is older, with thick walls that stay somewhat cool even when it’s muggy outside. We don’t have much in the way of city distractions, so the hospital is a bit of a hub for people living on the base. You’ll find the usual setup: a pharmacy, some general wards, and a small emergency room that stays open late. The pace of life here is a bit slower than in the bigger cities, but we still have our busy spells where every bed is taken and the doctors are on their feet all day. People tend to know each other here, so there’s a lot of chatting in the corridors between patients and the staff. We spend a lot of time keeping the place running, fixing things that break, and making sure the supplies are stocked up, which can take time given our location. The tea gardens nearby give the air a certain smell on some days when the wind is right. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the sirens now and then. We just provide what’s needed without making a big deal out of it. It’s just a regular hospital doing its job in a corner of Assam where people appreciate having it close by.
