Little Wonders Pre School

People usually find us by looking for Sujit Paul’s house here in Baruahpathar. We are right there in Bansbari, which is a fairly quiet part of Dibrugarh most of the time. The school takes up a good portion of the ground floor. We’ve got some bright curtains in the windows to keep the sun out during those long Assam afternoons. It gets really humid here, so the kids usually arrive looking a bit sweaty, but they settle down once we get the fans clicking. The floor is mostly covered in those foam puzzle mats because they’re easier to clean when someone spills their water or juice. Outside, the road is paved but narrow, so drop-off time can get a bit crowded with rickshaws and cycles trying to get past. We try to keep the gate shut once everyone is inside so nobody wanders out toward the main path. There is a big tree nearby that gives some decent shade in the mornings. Sometimes the local dogs sleep right outside our entrance because it stays a bit cooler there. It’s a pretty basic setup, really. We spend most of our day just managing the chaos of twenty or so toddlers. There’s always someone crying or someone laughing, often at the same time. We don’t have a fancy office or anything, just a desk in the corner where we keep the registers and some spare clothes for the kids.
